VIII.      Open a Public Hearing to receive comments on the rezoning request for two single tracts of land (4020 Jonesboro Road and Tax I.D. #14015B B004) from R-80 Single Family Residential to C-1 General Commercial


SUMMARY AND BACKGROUND: Two (2) petitions for two (2) single tracts of land lying adjacent to one another on Jonesboro Road, have been submitted to rezone the parcels from their current legal non-conforming use status of R-80 Single Family Residential zoning classification to C-1 General Commercial. The subject tracts are the former Bells Junkyard/Auto Salvage site and adjacent U.S. Auto Parts sales facility.


The petitions for rezoning are sought to allow for the development of a 9,180 sq. ft. Family Dollar retail department store facility on the former Bells Junkyard site and to make the last two (2) non-conforming parcels on Jonesboro Road consistent with the current zoning classification of the area.

1.      Consider a Resolution by the City Council of the City of

Forest Park declaring certain city property listed on Exhibit A, to be surplus property and to provide for its proper disposal either by auction or other methods pursuant to the Citys contract with Nationwide Auctions systems; and for other purposes


2. Consider request to rezone 4020 Jonesboro Road and Parcel

I.D. #14015B B004 from R-80 Single Family Residential to C-1 General Commercial


3.      Consider an Ordinance by the City Council of the City of

Forest Park authorizing the Mayor to sign and accept a Community Economic Adjustment Planning Assistance Grant for Calendar years 2008 and 2009 from the Department of Defense Office of Economic Adjustment for the purpose of preparing an Outreach and Comprehensive Reuse Plan for Fort Gillem and to appropriate the matching funds from the transfer/capital replacement fund Line Item #100-22-1510-61-10001; to provide for severability; to repeal all Ordinances and parts of Ordinances in conflict herewith; to provide an effective date; and for other purposes
