Communications Operator
Department: Fire & EMS
Annual Starting Salary: $27,549.00

This is telecommunications work in monitoring the City's communications system and 911 system. Operates radios, telephones, alarm board, computer terminals and printer. Dispatches fire, police, emergency medical services and animal control personnel to respond to calls. Performs NCIC/GCIC inquires on drivers licenses, vehicle registrations and outstanding warrants. Maintains information on which emergency units are in service and tracks their location. Completion of standard high school course or its equivalent. Some experience in emergency service dispatching or in two-way radio operation. Prefer G.C.I.C. certification. This position requires an accurate typing speed of 40-45 w.p.m. EOE

Firefighter/EMT
Department: Fire & EMS
Annual Starting Salary: $31,210.00

This is skilled work in fire prevention, fire suppression, and basic emergency medical services. Work involves operating fire apparatus and rescue vehicles, fighting fires, performing search and rescue, and performing medical services as authorized under the basic emergency medical technician certification. Work also includes the performance of routine duties in the maintenance and up keep of the fire station, vehicles and equipment. Requires completion of a standard high school course or its equivalent. Successful completion of state-mandated basic fire fighting training and certification as a basic emergency medical technician. Firefighter/Paramedic

This is skilled work in fire prevention, fire suppression, and Paramedic emergency medical services. Work involves operating fire apparatus and rescue vehicles, fighting fires, performing search and rescue, and performing medical services as part of a first-response EMS team. Incumbent coordinates emergency medical assistance on assigned calls and serves as liaison with hospital personnel while on duty. Incumbent is responsible for the maintenance and operation of EMS vehicle, equipment and stocking of medical supplies on assigned shift. Perform all duties assigned to the FF/EMT class. Requires completion of High School or equivalent, certification as a first class FF by the State of GA, and considerable experience as a FF/EMT. Certification as a Paramedic by the State of GA. EOE

Police Officer (non-certified)

This is general law enforcement work performed in the capacity of police trainee. Work involves assisting certified peace officers in routine patrol work such as responding to emergency calls, citizen complaints and alarms. This classification is considered to be a transitional classification. Completion of a standard high school course or its equivalent/possession of a valid Georgia Driver's License. EOE

Sr. Police Officer (certified)

This is general law enforcement work of protecting life and property and enforcing laws and ordinances. Work involves routine patrol work such as responding to emergency calls and citizen complaints/alarms. Duties include preliminary investigations, special detail assignments, administrative duties or other special assignments as assigned by superiors. Requires basic certification as a Georgia Peace Officer. Completion of a standard high school course or its equivalent/possession of a valid Georgia Drivers License. EOE
