Enforces provisions of applicable animal control ordinances, laws, and regulations, to include responding to complaints involving animals, investigating cases of animal bites or animal cruelty, capturing and handling animals, and ensuring the safety/welfare of animals and of citizens. Provides information, education and assistance to the public concerning animal control issues, humane treatment of animals or related issues.
Reponds to incoming calls/complaints concerning various animal issues, such as bites, potential animal cruelty/abuse, stray/nuisance animals, etc; takes appropriate action on complaints; responds to emergency calls and works with law enforcement when needed. Patrols city streets to locate and pick up stray animals. Provides care for animals while in cusody of animal control personnel.
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED; Supplemented by vocational/Technical training in animal control or animal care/handling, and vehicle operation; supplemented by 4 months previous experience and /or training involving animal control or animal care/handling, and vehicle operation; or any equivalent combination. Must possess and maintain a valid GA Driver's License. EOE.

This is responsible work in the enforcement of the City's zoning, litter, soil, building setback, health codes and sign and housing ordinances. Work involves enforcing the provisions of the City code/ordinances or other applicable federal, state, and local codes, laws, rules, regulations, specifications, standards, policies and procedures; researches code-related issues as needed; initiates any actions necessary to correct deviations or violations. Patrols assigned areas of City and inspects various sites to determine compliance with codes/ordinances. Conducts investigations into potential code violations; conducts site visits, collects information, and gathers evidence; interviews witnesses, complainants, offenders, and others. Participates in court activities to pursue legal action against violators. Must be able to prepare and maintain accurate logs/records of code enforcement activities; prepare detailed reports of activities and investigations.
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED; Supplemented by 5 months previous experience and/or training. Must be able to obtain International Code Congress (ICC) Property Maintenance and Housing Inspector Certification within the first 6 months of employment. Must possess a valid GA Driver's License.
Physical Ability: Tasks require the ability to exert very moderate physical effort in light work, typically involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of moderate weight (12-20 pounds).
