City of Forest Park Public Notice
As required by the Official Code of Georgia Annotated #21-2-131(a)(1) of the Election Code, the Mayor and Council of the City of Forest Park has set the qualifying fee for the Municipal General Election for:

Mayor - 4 year term ending 12/21
Councilperson (Ward 1) - 4 year term ending 12/21
Councilperson (Ward 2) - 4 year term ending 12/21


Qualifying fee for Mayor is $943.00 and qualifying fee for Councilperson is $612.00.

Qualifying dates are August 21 -25, 2017 from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM at Forest Park City Hall 745 Forest Parkway.

IMPORTANT NOTICES
The Recreation Center will be closed August 7 - 26, 2017 for cleaning and renovations.  The building will reopen Monday, August 28, 2017.

Due to renovations, the Planning, Building and Zoning Department have temporarily moved to 850 Main Street.  Planning, Building and Zoning will return to 785 Forest Parkway Monday, August 21, 2017 for normal business hours 8:00 AM-5:00 PM.


National Night Out
The Police Department is now accepting vendor applications for this year's National Night Out on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 5:30 PM - 8:00 PM at Starr Park.  Events are focused on crime prevention and drug awareness.  The community is invited to attend.  For more information or to register your business, email CYermack@forestparkpd.com.

Georgia Open Records Requests to City of Forest Park:

The City Clerk of the City of Forest Park is designated in the City Code as the custodian of all City records. All written Georgia Open Records Requests must be submitted to the City Clerk. Written requests may be submitted by mail, fax, or email. Three-day response period begins when the City Clerk actually receives the request.

The Forest Park Police Department is pleased to announce its use of TipSoft to allow community members to anonymously provide tips to the Police Department either online or by text message.

When submitting a tip using a cell phone:

  • Text your tip to 274637 (CRIMES)
  • Start your message with the agency keyword FPPD plus your message. Standard rates may apply.

When submitting a tip using the web:

  • Click on the Submit a Tip link on the Forest Park Police Facebook page or select the tipsoft web link at www.forestparkga.org
  • Fill out the form and submit your crime tip

Tips submitted through these methods are encrypted, entirely confidential, completely anonymous, and they are immediately and securely transmitted.

Main Street Redevelopment

Phase I of the LCI Main Street Downtown Streetscape Project has been completed. The project consisted of constructing brick paver handicap accessible sidewalks, landscaping, bicycle racks, trash receptacles, benches, and decorative pedestrian lighting on Main Street. The realignment of College/Ash/Main Street is the location for the new Town Center complete with a water fountain and town clock. This project is the catalyst for the overall redevelopment of Main Street.

Phase II of the Main Street Streetscape project, which will terminate at Highway 54 (Jonesboro Road) is in the engineering phase.

The City of Forest Park has recently upgraded its emergency notification system. The City of Forest Park is now using CODERED Emergency Notification System and it is an ultra high-speed telephone communication service for emergency notifications and the distribution of information considered to be important. The Recycling Center

continues to be open for your convenience Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until noon. You may bring paper goods including newspaper, magazines, phone books, and cardboard as well as metals, plastics, aluminum, and appliances. If you do not want to put your small yard debris in the paper recycle bags, you may always bring them and your longer limbs (limited no bigger in diameter than 4" and one pickup truck load) to the Recycling Center free.
